November 2005

This is the third and aakhri lifeline (oops!!!), okay, aakhri song in the raga Rasika Ranjini series. Lemme know your feedback.

Also, I came across a talented lyricist in the blogosphere and have composed a tune for one of his poems. It’s been a while since I composed something. 🙂 I will post that within the weekend for your feedbacks.

Song : Brahma Kamalam
Movie : Savidham (1992)
Music : Raveendran
Lyrics : Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri
Originally sung by : Yesudas K J

Yesterday’s song (from the movie Bharati) is based on the Rasika Ranjini raga. Actually, I didn’t know that. MagicLens told me this. She also mentioned there are two songs in Malayalam in the same raga. Murali mentioned one of these songs in the comments section. Both were sung by K. J. Yesudas.

1) Brahmakamalam sreelakamaakiya
2) Sindhooram peythirangi

Today I’m posting the second song. I know the song has flaws. I’m still experimenting in Carnatic music with the songs like this. So excuse me for any flaws and kindly put your opinions and suggestions in the comments section.

Movie: Thoovalkottaram
Music: Johnson
Originally sung by: K. J. Yesudas

As of now am thinking about working with all the musicians in the blogosphere. 🙂

Okay. And am not tagging anyone this time. Happy? 🙂

I love this time of the year. Its so romantic. Its so lovely. I’m just coming out of a hectic schedule in the work. So things are finally getting to normal.

Watched a movie – Dreamers – by Bernado Bertolucci. He told a very bold story as usual with his own style, but there are a lot of nude scenes. Sometimes, I thought I’m watching a porn movie. Oh well, am not pretending to be a good boy. But I really don’t understand why the masters are obsessed with the nudity in their movies. This movie has 80% nude scenes compared to his other ones. I had to watch it in the computer, putting my headsets on and at night when nobody watches. Even when I took the DVD from the video shop, the guy in there gave me a look like “hmm…”. LOL!

This is my second song with Anup. Today’s song is Ashaiyen from the movie Iqbal. This is an accoustic version compared to the original. I did not try to make an exact copy of the song. I took my freedom to make slight changes. For example, Ashaiyen khile dil ki… in the last part of the song. I sung the seconds in the high notes.

Also Anup added an intro of his own to the song. I must say his guitar is the plus point of this song. He played it wonderfully.

Original song credits:

Movie: Iqbal
Music: Salim Sulaiman, Sukhwinder Singh
Singer: Kay Kay. I heard that he (KK — Krishna Kumar) was born in Thrissur. 🙂

Our Version:

Guitar: Anup
Vocals: Jo

Hi guys,

Today’s song is from the movie “Minnale”. Anup played the BG guitar for this song and sent me the track. I recorded my voice in another track using CoolEditPro and here is the outcome.

Meet Anup, a superb guitar player whom I recently met through the blogosphere. You sure gonna get surprized by listening to his guitar! He is a mallu, from my district Thrissur, born and brought up in Chennai and now in US for his PhD.

He has formed a band with his pals, the band is called PARAM. They have created their own music and you can listen to some of their tracks from the links below.

Don blogs about the CAN CONQUER CANCER Initiative happening in Chennai in December, 2005. Excerpts given below:

————————————

The Rotary Club of Madras (Metro) is organizing a Fund Raising Concert featuring singer Sonu Nigam on 10th December 2005 in Chennai. The proceeds of the concert are to be handed over for the welfare of the patients recovering from Cancer at the Cancer Institute, Adayar, Chennai.

In connection with this, Connexions has given its support as one of the main sponsors of the event. To create the awareness and to raise support for a noble cause, Connexions has planned several in-house events. The main events include contests in Poetry, Photography and Painting and would include participants from educational institutions and corporate houses apart from the regular visitors and shoppers at the showrooms. The events are being scheduled between Nov 16th and Dec 10th 2005.

We have planned to culminate the events with an Awareness Walk around the Anna Nagar Park on December 4th 2005.

————————————

And they have scheduled a “The Best Blog Post Contest” featuring the CAN CONQUER CANCER Theme between Nov 27th and Dec 2nd. Checkout Don’s blog for details.
